Ivor Evans – Director
Ivor’s involvement with Information Technology began in UK government over 45 years ago and he has remained in that field ever since. He has been responsible for all aspects of IT including strategic reviews, technical and managerial studies, cost-benefit analyses, procurement and Service Management, the latter at a senior directing level. For the past fifteen years he has acted as an independent senior consultant and tutor for a variety of international information services corporations. During recent years, most assignments have involved carrying out maturity assessments for a variety of organizations, providing them with an improvement roadmap which highlights activities that will bring the most immediate benefits, but which is also focused on achieving their strategic goals.
Ivor’s first ITIL®-based IT Service Improvement Program for UK Army Logistics, the first large-scale ITIL® implementation in the world, began in 1989. This laid the foundation for the practical advice and guidance that he has since provided to a wide range of private and public sector clients in the UK and elsewhere.
Ivor Evans is an acknowledged expert on practical and strategic IT Service Management issues, has been a frequent speaker at national and international gatherings and was a contributor to the rewriting of the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL®). He was a co-author of the British Standard BS15000 (now ISO/IEC 20000) and its associated Code of Practice for IT Service Management; also of the highly acclaimed “Complete Guide to IT Service Management”.
As a result of his professional interest and involvement in the adoption of modern management techniques for the delivery of high quality IT services, he was a founder member and long-serving Chairman of the UK IT Service Management Forum (itSMF). He was also elected Chairman of the management board of itSMF International, representing the highest aspirations in IT service quality worldwide. Ivor remains the Honorary Lifetime President of itSMF. He is a Member of the British Computer Society and was elected a Fellow of the international Institute of IT Service Management.
For many years Ivor has been an examiner and accredited tutor in IT Service Management. He holds the Service Manager’s Certificate in IT Service Management with an award of distinction and all ITIL® Service Capability, Lifecycle and Management Certificates, including that of ‘ITIL® Expert’.
